Watches & Warnings

Heat Advisory
Issued: 3:01 AM CDT Jul. 24, 2016 – National Weather Service

... Heat advisory remains in effect until 8 PM CDT this evening...

The heat advisory... issued by the National Weather Service in
Paducah Kentucky... will continue until 8 PM CDT this Sunday
evening for all of southwest Indiana and the pennyrile region of
west Kentucky.

* The combination of high temperatures in the mid 90s will
combine with oppressive humidity to produce heat indices
around 105 degrees each day.

* The impact of a heat index of 105 degrees or higher is
considered the level at which the body becomes more susceptible
to heat exhaustion and heat stroke.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A heat advisory means that a period of hot temperatures is
expected. The combination of hot temperatures and high humidity
will create a situation in which heat illnesses are possible.
Drink plenty of fluids... stay in an air-conditioned room... stay
out of the sun... and check up on relatives and neighbors.

To reduce risk during outdoor work... the occupational safety and
health administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks
in shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by
heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke
is an emergency... call 9 1 1.
