Watches & Warnings

Excessive Heat Warning, Dense Fog Advisory
Issued: 4:30 AM CDT Jul. 23, 2016 – National Weather Service

... Excessive heat warning remains in effect until 8 PM CDT
Sunday...
... Dense fog advisory remains in effect until 8 am CDT this
morning...

A dense fog advisory... issued by the National Weather Service in
Paducah Kentucky... continues until 8 am CDT today for southeast
Illinois and a small part of the pennyrile region of west
Kentucky.

In addition... the excessive heat warning for southern Illinois and
the heat advisory for the pennyrile region of west Kentucky
remains in effect until 8 PM CDT Sunday.

* Visibilities due to the fog through daybreak will periodically
drop below a mile at times and may rapidly change over a short
distance.

* Impacts due to the fog overnight will be reduced visibility of
the Road ahead. Drivers should use caution in areas of reduced
visibility.

* For the excessive heat warning this weekend... the combination
of high temperatures in the mid to upper 90s will combine with
oppressive humidity to produce heat indices from 105 to 110
degrees.

* A heat index of 105 degrees or higher is considered the level
at which the body becomes more susceptible to heat exhaustion
and heat stroke.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

An excessive heat warning means that a prolonged period of
dangerously hot temperatures will occur. The combination of hot
temperatures and high humidity will combine to create a dangerous
situation in which heat illnesses are likely.

A dense fog advisory means visibilities will frequently be
reduced to less than one quarter mile. If driving... slow down...
use your headlights... and leave plenty of distance ahead of you.
