... Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 5 PM MST this
afternoon...

* impacts... moderate to heavy snowfall will accumulate on
roadways resulting in slick surfaces and reduced visibility.

* Timing... continuing through Saturday. Occasional breaks in the
snowfall will be possible.

* Snow accumulations... 8 to 16 inches of additional accumulation
is expected through Saturday above 6000 ft with 4 to 6 inches
in the lower valleys.

* Locations... Stanley... Clayton... Hailey... Ketchum... Bellevue

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Storm Warning for heavy snow means severe winter weather
conditions are expected or occurring. Significant amounts of snow
are forecast that will make travel dangerous. Only travel in an
emergency. If you must travel... keep an extra flashlight... food
and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency.

Issued: 7:44 AM MST Dec. 10, 2016 – National Weather Service

The following message is transmitted at the request of the Forest
service sawtooth avalanche center.

The Forest service sawtooth avalanche center in Ketchum has
issued a backcountry avalanche warning.

* Timing... in effect from 630 am MST this morning until 730 am MST
Sunday.

* Affected area... for the smoky... Boulder... and Sawtooth
Mountains including the mountains near Galena Summit... Smiley
creek... and Stanley.

* Avalanche danger... the avalanche danger for the warning area is
high.

* Reason/impacts... the combination of heavy snowfall and wind
blown snow is overloading a weak early season snowpack.
Widespread areas of unstable snow exist. Both human triggered and
natural avalanches are likely on steep snow covered slopes and
gullies.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...
backcountry travelers should stay off of... and out from
underneath... slopes steeper than 30 degrees. Choose conservative
terrain.
