especially for those traveling along mountain passes Thursday.
Patches of blowing snow will create reduced visibilities.

* Timing... snow will fall mainly in two periods; the first one
is expected this evening until just prior to sunrise. The
second will begin late Thursday morning and persist through
Thursday evening. By Thursday afternoon, and continuing
through the evening, expect wind gusts in excess of 30 mph.

* Snow accumulations... 8 to 12 inches.

* Confidence... moderate confidence in snow amounts and moderate
to low confidence in timing of events.

* Locations... above 7500 ft, including Galena Summit, Banner
Summit, Sawtooth Mountain range, big and little Wood River
region.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Weather Advisory for snow and blowing snow means that
periods of snow will cause primarily travel difficulties. Be
prepared for snow covered roads and limited visibilities, and use
caution while driving.

Areal Flood Watch, Areal Flood Advisory
Issued: 2:44 PM MDT Mar. 29, 2017 – National Weather Service

... Flood Watch remains in effect through Friday afternoon...

The Flood Watch continues for

* portions of central Idaho, eastern Idaho, south central Idaho,
and southeast Idaho, including the following areas, in central
Idaho, big and little Wood River region, Lost
River/pahsimeroi, and Sawtooth Mountains. In eastern Idaho,
upper snake Highlands. In south central Idaho, eastern Magic
Valley. In southeast Idaho, Cache Valley/Idaho portion,
Caribou Highlands, south Central Highlands, and Wasatch
mountains/Idaho portion.

* Through Friday afternoon.

* Excessive snowmelt along with rainfall.

* Above freezing temperatures and moderate to heavy rainfall
tonight through Friday will continue snowmelt across the watch
area. Rain on top of snow will further increase the risk of
runoff and flooding in lower elevations starting tonight and
continuing through Friday.

* Water was beginning to flow over the magic dam spillway with
downstream flows on the Big Wood River across Lincoln County
expected to reach upwards of 5000 cfs around midnight tonight.
At 5300 cfs, floodwaters will spread downstream from the
Reservoir along the Big Wood River reaching within one foot of
Highway 75. The flooding is expected to be similar to the event
that occurred in 2006.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on
current forecasts.

Individuals living near the Big Wood River downstream of the magic
dam should be alert to possible flooding.

You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible
flood warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be
prepared to take action should flooding develop.

1149 am MDT Mon Mar 27 2017

The National Weather Service in Pocatello has extended the

* flood advisory for...
snowmelt in...
central Blaine County in central Idaho...

* until 215 PM MDT Friday

* emergency management reported minor flooding in the vicinity of
Carey and Picabo. Water continues to flow across several rural
roads in and around Carey. Minor flooding is also affecting
several basements. Ditches, streams, and creeks across the
advisory area remain bankfull and flooding along creeks and low
lying areas is expected to continue especially with additional
rainfall Thursday and Friday, followed by another disturbance next
Monday.

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Keep children away from storm drains, culverts, creeks and streams.
Water levels can rise rapidly and sweep children away.

Please report flooding to your local law enforcement agency when you
can do so safely.

A flood advisory means river or stream flows are elevated, or ponding
of water in urban or other areas is occurring or is imminent.
