Winter Weather Advisory
Issued: 11:02 AM PST Feb. 15, 2019 – National Weather Service

... Winter Weather Advisory in effect until 11 PM PST this
evening...

* what... snow expected. Snow showers with bursts of heavy snow
will lead to snow accumulations of 2 to 5 inches expected.
Slushy roadways this afternoon will refreeze this evening and
become icy.

* Where... Elk River, Highway 11 Pierce to Headquarters, Pierce,
Dixie, Elk City, and Highway 12 Lowell to Lolo Pass.

* When... until 11 PM PST this evening.

* Additional details... brief periods of very low visibility and
rapidly changing Road conditions will accompany heavy snow
showers.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Weather Advisory for snow means periods of snow will
cause primarily travel difficulties. Expect snow covered roads
and limited visibilities, and use caution while driving.

Avalanche Warning
Issued: 6:07 AM PST Feb. 15, 2019 – National Weather Service

The following message is transmitted at the request of the
Payette National Forest avalanche center... McCall Idaho.

... The Payette National Forest avalanche center in McCall Idaho
has issued a backcountry avalanche warning...

* timing... in effect until 7am MST Saturday.

* Location... in the west central Idaho mountains near McCall.

* Avalanche danger... the avalanche danger scale in the west
central Idaho mountains... including the Payette National Forest...
is widespread and has been elevated to high.

* Reason... recent heavy snow and high winds have produced large
areas of unstable snow... the probability of rain falling on snow
in the lower to mid elevations and warming temperatures is also
a factor. Avalanches are likely on steep snow- covered slopes
and gullies.

Precaution/preparedness actions...

Natural and human triggered avalanches are likely. Avoid travel
in avalanche terrain. Backcountry skiers... snowboarders...
snowmobilers and other users should be aware of sloping terrain
and avoid avalanche path runout areas. Use extreme caution.

Avalanche conditions may exist... but not be reported... in
locations outside the coverage area of any avalanche center.

check www.Fsavalanche.Org to learn more about how to identify
avalanche problems. Watch for changing conditions including
recent avalanches... heavy snowfall or rain... strong wind or
rapidly warming temperatures.
