The National Weather Service in Des Moines has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...
northern Black Hawk County in northeastern Iowa...
Bremer County in northeastern Iowa...
Butler County in north central Iowa...

* until 800 am CDT.

* At 200 am CDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing
heavy rain across the warned area. Up to two inches of rain have
already fallen in portions of the warning and also received heavy
rain from Friday morning resulting in saturated ground. Rainfall
rates of 2 to 3 inches per hour are likely with these storms
and flash flooding is expected to begin shortly.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Waverly, Allison, Jesup, Denver, Clarksville, Shell Rock, Greene,
Waterloo Municipal Airport, Janesville, Dunkerton, Readlyn,
Dumont, Plainfield, Bristow, Aredale, Allison Municipal Airport
and Waverly Municipal Airport.

Additional rainfall amounts of 2 to 4 are possible in the warned
area.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

Please report flooding to your local law enforcement agency when you
can do so safely.

... The Flash Flood Warning remains in effect until 430 am CDT for
northeastern Bremer County...

At 143 am CDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing very
heavy rain across the warned area. Radar estimated rainfall of up to
three to four inches of rain have already fallen since 10 PM Friday
night and additional very heavy rain is expected to persist through
the morning hours. At 140 am CDT, local law enforcement reported
several roads in the warned area being inundated with flowing water
and the hardest hit area has been in and around Sumner in far
northeast Bremer County. However other locations likely to
experience flash flooding include... Tripoli and Frederika.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

Flash flooding is occurring or is imminent. It is important to know
where you are relative to streams, rivers, or creeks which can
become killers in heavy rains. Campers and hikers should avoid
streams or creeks.

The Flash Flood Watch continues for

* portions of central Iowa, north central Iowa, and northeast
Iowa, including the following areas, in central Iowa, Grundy
and Tama. In north central Iowa, Butler. In northeast Iowa,
Black Hawk and Bremer.

* Until 9 am CDT Saturday

* additional rainfall is expected tonight, which may lead to
flash flooding.

* Typical flood-prone locations may flood, creating potentially
hazardous travel conditions and the potential for Road closures.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should flash flood warnings be issued.
