Issued: 11:33 AM CST Dec. 10, 2016 – National Weather Service

... Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect from 3 PM this
afternoon to 6 PM CST Sunday...

* timing... snow will begin during the afternoon and continue
overnight and through Sunday.

* Snow accumulations... 3 to 6 inches.

* Wind... southeast 10 to 15 mph with gusts up to 25 mph.

* Temperatures... in the mid to upper 20s.

* Impacts... light to moderate snowfall will create slippery
travel conditions over the area... and will reduce visibility
to under 1 mile at times.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Weather Advisory for snow means that periods of snow
will cause primarily travel difficulties. Be prepared for snow
covered roads and limited visibilities... and use caution while
driving.

... A band of moderate snow early this afternoon...

At 12 PM CST a narrow band of moderate snow extended from near
Iowa Falls to Burlington. The band of snow was moving eastward
and will be affecting portions of eastern Iowa and western
Illinois early this afternoon.

Visibility will quickly drop to less than a mile and frequently to
1/2 mile with snowfall amounts of a quick inch likely. Isolated
spots may receive up to 2 inches.

With temperatures in the 20s roadways will quickly become snow
covered and hazardous this afternoon. Slow down and use extra
caution.
