Coastal Flood Advisory
Issued: 3:15 PM EST Jan. 22, 2017 – National Weather Service

... Coastal Flood Advisory remains in effect from 5 am to 10 PM
EST Monday...

* location... the tidal Delaware River downstream from the
Commodore Barry bridge area... and the extreme upper part of
Delaware Bay.

* Coastal flooding... areas of minor flooding are expected with
the high tide on Monday morning and again with the high tide
on Monday evening.

* Timing... high tide along New Castle County in Delaware and
Salem County in New Jersey occurs around 7:30 am to 8:00 am on
Monday and again around 8:00 PM to 8:30 PM on Monday.

* Surge... around 2.0 to 2.5 feet above the astronomical tide on
Monday morning. About 2.5 to 3.0 feet above the astronomical
tide on Monday evening.

* Impacts... localized roadway flooding is expected on Monday
morning and again on Monday evening. The late day flooding may
be compounded by rain.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A coastal Flood Advisory means that minor tidal flooding is
expected. Minor tidal flooding often results in some Road
closures. Usually... the most vulnerable roadways will flood.

Do not leave your vehicle at a location that is prone to tidal
flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flood waters. The
water may be deeper than you think it is. You will be putting
yourself in danger and your vehicle may be damaged... leading to
costly repairs.

A Wind Advisory means that very windy conditions are expected.
Winds this strong can make driving difficult... especially for
high profile vehicles. Use extra caution. Light-weight outdoor
objects such as patio furniture and garbage cans should be
secured.

Marine Fog Advisory, Gale Warning
Issued: 4:15 PM EST Jan. 22, 2017 – National Weather Service

... Dense fog advisory remains in effect until 1 am EST Monday...
... Gale Warning remains in effect from 1 am to 7 PM EST Monday...

* location... the coastal ocean waters of southern New Jersey and
Delaware and Delaware Bay.

* Winds... northeast 20 to 30 kt with gusts up to 45 kt.

* Seas... 3 to 6 feet.

* Visibility... 1 nm or less at times through this evening.

* Timing... winds increase tonight... and then the strongest winds
are expected on Monday.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Gale Warning means winds of 34 to 47 knots are imminent or
occurring. Operating a vessel in gale conditions requires
experience and properly equipped vessels. It is highly
recommended that mariners without the proper experience seek safe
Harbor prior to the onset of gale conditions.

A dense fog advisory means visibilities will frequently be
reduced to less than one mile. Inexperienced mariners...
especially those operating smaller vessels should avoid
navigating in these conditions.
