Issued: 3:40 AM EST Jan. 16, 2017 – National Weather Service

... Winter Weather Advisory in effect from 3 PM Tuesday to 7 am
EST Wednesday...

The National Weather Service in Albany has issued a Winter
Weather Advisory for sleet and freezing rain... which is in effect
from 3 PM Tuesday to 7 am EST Wednesday.

* Locations... the Berkshires and Litchfield Hills.

* Hazard types... sleet and freezing rain.

* Accumulations... sleet accumulation of up to 1 inch.

* Ice accumulations... ice accretion of one tenth to one quarter of
an inch. Locally higher amounts possible in sheltered mountain
valleys of the Berkshires.

* Timing... precipitation will begin Tuesday afternoon as a mix of
rain and sleet. Precipitation will change to freezing rain by
the late afternoon or early evening hours and continue into
Tuesday night. Precipitation will taper off to light rain or
drizzle Wednesday morning.

* Impacts... ice covered roadways will make for hazardous travel.
Untreated walkways, driveways and sidewalks will be very
slippery. Some isolated to scattered power outages are possible
in areas that receive the most significant freezing rain.

* Winds... east 5 to 10 mph.

* Temperatures... in the lower to middle 30s.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Weather Advisory means that periods of snow... sleet... or
freezing rain will cause travel difficulties. Be prepared for
slippery roads and limited visibilities... and use caution while
driving.
