The following message is transmitted at the request of the
Colorado avalanche information center.

Avalanche warning is in effect for the central and southern
mountains. The Colorado avalanche information center has issued an
avalanche warning.

* Timing... in effect from 6 am MST Tuesday through 6 am Wednesday

* affected areas... Elk and West Elk Mountains... Ruby Range... Grand
Mesa... San Juan Mountains... Uncompahgre Plateau... La Garita
Mountains... and Sangre de Cristo Range.

* Avalanche danger... the avalanche danger is high.

* Reason... an exiting winter storm deposited ample new snow fall
onto a weak snowpack. Avalanche conditions are very dangerous.
Natural and human triggered avalanches are likely on slopes
steeper than about 30 degrees.

* Precautionary/preparedness actions... backcountry travel is not
recommended. Backcountry travelers should stay off of... and out
from underneath... slopes steeper than 30 degrees.
