Issued: 11:51 AM MST Jan. 22, 2017 – National Weather Service

... Winter Storm Warning in effect from 6 PM this evening to 9 am
MST Tuesday...

The National Weather Service in Grand Junction has issued a
Winter Storm Warning for snow and blowing snow... which is in
effect from 6 PM this evening to 9 am MST Tuesday. The Winter
Storm Watch is no longer in effect.

* Locations include the cities of... Durango... Bayfield...
Ignacio... Pagosa Springs.

* Timing... snow will begin this evening and continue through early
Tuesday morning. Periods of rain mixed with snow will be
possible in lower elevations during the day on Monday before
precipitation transitions back to all snow Monday night when the
heaviest accumulations are expected.

* Snow accumulation... 6 to 12 inches with locally higher amounts.

* Winds... southwest 10 to 20 mph with gusts up to 30 mph.

* Impacts... mountain roadways will become snow packed with winter
driving conditions are expected this evening through Tuesday.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Storm Warning means significant amounts of snow are
expected or occurring. Strong winds and blowing snow are also
possible. This will make travel very hazardous or impossible.
