Flash Flood Watch
Issued: 3:08 PM PST Feb. 22, 2017 – National Weather Service

... Flash Flood Watch in effect through Saturday morning for the
levees along the lower San Joaquin River and in the Delta of
northwestern Stanislaus and southern san joauqin counties...

The National Weather Service in Sacramento has expanded the

* Flash Flood Watch to include a portion of northern
California... including the following area... northern San
Joaquin Valley.

* Through Saturday morning

* Don Pedro and other local dams are making large Reservoir
releases that are raising river levels along the lower San
Joaquin River north of Grayson. These elevated levels are
causing flooding in the low lying bottom areas along the river
and increasing concerns on the levees of the area.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch associated with levees means that there is an
issue on the levee that if it were to deteriorate into a failure
it could lead to flash flooding and the rapid arrival of flood
waters into the area normally protected by the levee.

People in the area of the Flash Flood Watch should monitor NOAA
Weather Radio and other news outlets for updates to this
situation. Be prepared to quickly evacuate should a Flash Flood
Warning be issued.
