Watches & Warnings

High Wind Warning
Issued: 4:41 AM PST Dec. 2, 2016 – National Weather Service

... High Wind Warning in effect until 2 PM PST Saturday...

The National Weather Service in Los Angeles/Oxnard has issued a
High Wind Warning... which is in effect until 2 PM PST Saturday.
The Wind Advisory is no longer in effect.

* Winds and timing... northeast winds 20 to 35 mph with gusts to 50
mph will increase to 25 to 40 mph with gusts to 60 mph this
morning... then continue through early Saturday afternoon before
slowly diminishing. The strongest winds will occur across the
eastern portion of the Ventura County valleys and below passes
and canyons.

* Impacts... gusty winds will make driving difficult... especially
for drivers of high profile vehicles. Winds this strong can
cause downed trees and powerlines as well as power outages.
Highways affected will include the 23 and 118 freeways.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A High Wind Warning means that damaging high winds of 58 mph or
greater are likely or imminent. Secure all loose outdoor
furniture in advance of the onset of strong winds. Monitor the
latest forecasts on NOAA Weather Radio or your favorite media
source.

Fire Weather Warning
Issued: 9:31 AM PST Dec. 2, 2016 – National Weather Service

... Red flag warning remains in effect from noon today to 6 PM PST
Saturday for wind and low relative humidity for the Ventura
valleys and coasts as well as the San Fernando Valley...

* winds... northeast winds 20 to 35 mph with gusts to 50 mph
through Saturday afternoon. Isolated gusts to 60 mph in the
hills. Strongest this afternoon and evening.

* Relative humidity... 8 to 15 percent... lowest on Saturday.

* Impacts... if fire ignition occurs... conditions may be
favorable for extreme fire behavior which would threaten life
and property. Use extra caution with potential ignition
sources.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A red flag warning means that critical fire weather conditions
are either occurring now... or will shortly. A combination of
strong winds... low relative humidity... and warm temperatures will
create extreme fire behavior. Please advise the appropriate
officials or fire crews in the field of this red flag warning.
