Issued: 8:26 PM PST Jan. 18, 2017 – National Weather Service

... High surf warning remains in effect from 4 PM Thursday to
10 PM PST Tuesday...

* surf... surf around 4 to 7 feet developing late Thursday
afternoon... then increasing on Friday to 8 to 12 ft with sets to
16 feet. Surf subsiding on Sunday to 4 to 8 ft... then increasing
again on Monday to 9 to 12 ft. Surf will slowly lower throughout
the day Tuesday.

* Tides... highest tide during highest surf will be at 435 am
Saturday at 4.6 ft in La Jolla.

flooding... and possible damage to coastal structures such as
piers. Coastal flooding will be most likely during times of high
tide. Frequent strong rip currents are also likely.

swimming conditions... and deadly rip currents.

Small Craft Advisory, Gale Watch
Issued: 8:18 PM PST Jan. 18, 2017 – National Weather Service

... Small Craft Advisory remains in effect from 4 am Thursday to
10 am PST Friday...
... Gale watch remains in effect from Friday morning through
Saturday afternoon...

* winds... southwest to west winds 15 to 20 kt with gusts to 25
kt Thursday... increasing Friday through Saturday to 25 to 30
kt with gusts to 35 kt.

* Waves/seas... combined seas increasing Thursday to 7 to 11
feet... then increasing further on Friday through Saturday...
possibly as high as 12 to 19 feet.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Small Craft Advisory means that wind speeds of 21 to 33 knots
and combined seas of 10 feet or greater are expected to produce
hazardous wave conditions to small craft. Inexperienced
mariners... especially those operating smaller vessels should
avoid navigating in these conditions.

A gale watch is issued when the risk of gale force winds of 34 to
47 knots has significantly increased... but the specific timing
and/or location is still uncertain. It is intended to provide
additional lead time for mariners who may wish to consider
altering their plans.
