Areal Flood Advisory
Issued: 5:53 AM PST Jan. 20, 2017 – National Weather Service

The National Weather Service in Oxnard has issued a

* Flood Advisory for...
San Luis Obispo County in southwestern California...

* until 1145 am PST Friday

* at 540 am PST, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated
moderate to heavy rain overspreading San Luis Obispo. Rainfall
rates have increased to near two tenths of an inch per hour across
much of western San Luis Obispo County, and will likely increase
to between one quarter and one third of an inch per hour in most
areas by 7 am PST. Local rates to one half inch per hour are
expected.

Moderate to heavy rain is expected to continue for much of the
morning. There is also a slight chance of thunderstorms. The
rain will cause widespread ponding of water on area roadways
and local flooding of low lying areas and intersections.
Minor mud and debris flows may occur in the vicinity of the
chimney burn area.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Wind Advisory
Issued: 2:26 AM PST Jan. 20, 2017 – National Weather Service

... Wind Advisory now in effect from 6 am this morning to 3 PM PST
this afternoon...

* winds and timing... south to southwest winds will increase to 20
to 30 mph with gusts to 50 mph early this morning... become
southwest to west by late morning... then slowly diminish by mid
afternoon.

* Impacts... gusty winds will make driving difficult... especially
for drivers of high profile vehicles. Since the soils are
wet... there is a heightened potential for downed trees.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

When driving... use extra caution. Be prepared for sudden gusty
cross winds.

Gale Warning
Issued: 4:38 AM PST Jan. 20, 2017 – National Weather Service

... Gale Warning remains in effect until 9 PM PST this evening...

* winds... southwest winds 20 to 30 kt with gusts to 35 kt are
expected when winds are strongest.

* Seas... combined seas of 18 to 21 feet with periods around 17
seconds are expected when waves are largest.

See the coastal waters forecast (cwflox) for more details.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Gale Warning means winds of 34 to 47 knots are imminent or
occuring. Operating a vessel in gale conditions requires
experience and properly equipped vessels. It is highly
recommended that mariners without the proper experience seek safe
Harbor prior to the onset of gale conditions.

A Small Craft Advisory means that hazardous sea conditions will
exist for small craft. Inexperienced mariners... especially those
operating smaller vessels should avoid navigating in these
conditions.
