mph will persist through mid morning. The strongest winds will
occur below passes and canyons from Malibu to the Hollywood
Hills.

* Impacts... gusty winds will make driving difficult, especially
for drivers of high profile vehicles. Major roads that will be
affected include the 405 in West Los Angeles, and Highway 1
from Malibu to Santa Monica.

Beach Hazard Statement
Issued: 3:57 AM PDT Apr. 27, 2017 – National Weather Service

... Beach hazards statement remains in effect through Friday
evening...

* hazards... dangerous rip currents and breaking waves are
expected due to elevated surf of 3 to 6 feet. Local sets to 7
feet are possible. Highest surf is expected each afternoon and
evening on west-facing beaches.

* Impacts... there is an increased risk of ocean drowning. Rip
currents can pull swimmers and surfers out to sea. Waves can
wash people off beaches and rocks... and capsize small boats
nearshore.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A beach hazards statement is issued when threats such as rip
currents... longshore currents... sneaker waves and other hazards
create life-threatening conditions in the surf zone. Swim near a
lifeguard. If caught in a rip current, relax and float. Don't
swim against the current. If able, swim in a direction following
the shoreline. If unable to escape, face the shore and call or
wave for help.
