... Thunderstorms starting to develop...

* at 11 am, isolated storms were starting to develop over the
eastern Sierra, and Mineral and Lyon counties in western Nevada.
Storms will continue to grow in coverage and intensity through
the early afternoon. Storm movement is to the north-northwest at
10-15 mph, meaning storms will extend up into the Reno, Tahoe,
Carson City, and Douglas County areas by mid afternoon.

* Flash flooding is the primary hazard from storms today with
rainfall amounts exceeding 1 inch per hour likely. Storms can
also produce copious lightning, hail, and strong outflow winds
to 50 mph.

* If you're out on one of the many area lakes or trails, now is
the time to consider getting to safe shelter before lightning
becomes a serious hazard. Also do not set up Camp near a creek
bed that easily channel flash floods.
