The National Weather Service in Tucson has issued a

* flood advisory for...
west central Graham County in southeastern Arizona...
east central Pinal County in southeastern Arizona...

* until 830 PM MST

* at 629 PM MST, a thunderstorm producing heavy rain was located
near Klondyke in western Graham County, moving west at 10 to 15
mph.

* Some locations that may experience flooding include...
Aravaipa creek preserve, Klondyke and Dudleyville.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of washes
and streams, roads, farmland, and other low lying spots.

In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are
potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded
roads. Find an alternate Route.

northwestern Pima County in southeastern Arizona...

* until 930 PM MST

* at 625 PM MST, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms. This will cause minor flooding in the advisory area.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Organ pipe National Monument, Santa Cruz, Kuakatch, Kupk, Pisinimo,
why, pisinemo, Charco 27, Mountain Village, covered Wells, big
fields, GU Vo, Gunsight, San Simon Village and Pia Oik.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

* urban and small stream flood advisory for...
northeastern Pima County in southeastern Arizona...

* until 830 PM MST

* at 528 PM MST, Doppler radar indicated moderate rain continuing in
some areas west and southwest of Tucson that was already hit by
heavy rain this afternoon. This will cause urban and small stream
flooding in the advisory area.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Sahuarita, Drexel Heights, Tucson Estates, Valencia west, Avra
Valley, Saguaro National Park west, San Xavier mission, Picture
Rocks and Silver Bell.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of washes
and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well
as other drainage areas and low lying spots.

... Flash Flood Watch remains in effect until midnight MST
tonight...

The Flash Flood Watch continues for

* a portion of Southeast Arizona, including the following areas,
Baboquivari Mountains, Catalina and Rincon Mountains,
Chiricahua Mountains, Dragoon and mule and huachuca and Santa
Rita Mountains, eastern Cochise County below 5000 feet,
galiuro and Pinaleno Mountains, south central Pinal County,
southeast Pinal County, tohono o'odham nation, Tucson Metro
area, upper Gila River valley, upper San Pedro River Valley,
upper Santa Cruz River Valley/Altar Valley, and White
Mountains of Graham and Greenlee counties.

* Until midnight MST tonight

* scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms will continue in
in a very moist and unstable atmosphere through this evening.
The strongest storms will be capable of producing between one
and two inches of rain in less than one hour which could lead to
flash flooding.

* Areas along washes, small streams and drainages plus wildfire
burn scar areas will be susceptible to flooding. Low water
crossings and poorly drained roads may become impassable.
Rural and dirt roads will likely become washed out at times.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions are becoming favorable
for flash flooding to develop. Monitor forecasts closely and be
ready to take quick action if flash flood warnings are issued. If
flash flooding is observed... act quickly. Turn around and take
another Route.
