Areal Flood Advisory

The National Weather Service in Flagstaff has issued a

* small stream Flood Advisory for...
central Yavapai County in west central Arizona...

* until 715 PM MST

* at 510 PM MST... Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms in the area 10 to 20 miles west of Chino Valley.
This will cause small stream flooding in the advisory area. Up to
one and a half inches of rain has already fallen... with some
additional rainfall likely through 545 PM MST.

* Flooding will remain over mainly rural areas of central Yavapai
County.

This includes the following streams and drainages... Strickland
wash... Humphrey wash... Smith Canyon... Williamson Valley wash...
Sycamore Creek... burnt wash... horse wash... tonto wash and mint wash.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Most flood deaths occur in automobiles. Never drive your vehicle
into areas where water covers the roadway. Flood waters are usually
deeper than they appear. Just one foot of flowing water is powerful
enough to sweep vehicles off the Road. When encountering flooded
roads... make the smart choice: turn around... don't drown.
