Areal Flood Advisory
Issued: 1:44 AM MST Jan. 21, 2017 – National Weather Service

The National Weather Service in Phoenix has issued a

* Arroyo and Small Stream Flood Advisory for...
Maricopa County in south central Arizona...

* until 445 am MST

* at 139 am MST, trained weather spotters reported a water Rescue
one mile east of Interstate 17 near anthem. This was due to heavy
rains that had occurred over the past several hours or more in
locations north and east of Carefree and Cave Creek. Although
heavy rain is not expected in the advisory area early this
morning, there will be sufficient drainage from the earlier heavy
rains to cause flooding problems. Washes in the area are likely
flowing and there may be significant water over area roads.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
New River and anthem.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small
creeks and streams, country roads, farmland, and other low lying
spots.

A Flood Advisory means river or stream flows are elevated, or ponding
of water in urban or other areas is occurring or is imminent.
