... Smoke returns to Fairbanks and the central interior...

West winds brought smoke into Nenana and Fairbanks after 10 PM
Sunday night. Rain, which developed Sunday evening, kept the
smoke trapped close to the ground and allowed the winds to bring
the smoke into Fairbanks. The smoke is coming from fires west of
Fairbanks.

Smoke is expected to thin out late Monday afternoon, but could
thicken again late Monday night and persist into Tuesday.
