The National Weather Service in Fairbanks has extended the

the chena river at Moose Creek dam...
* until 245 PM akdt Monday
* the chena river remains at bankfull and above flood stage in some
locations... but is falling upstream of the Moose Creek dam. Low
lying boat launches and trailheads may still be underwater...
including the Granite tors trailhead... Stiles creek shooting
range... and the compeau trailhead.
* In the Steamboat Landing subdivision in North Pole... water levels
are expected to remain at minor flood stage through the weekend.
Several inches of water will continue to cross Freeman
Road... river water will inundate some yards in the
subdivision... and groundwater flooding will occur in some
* The U.S. Army corps of engineers Alaska district is currently
operating the Moose Creek dam. Flood control gates at the dam
started regulating the chena river at 6:00 PM on 20 July 2016. The
dam will be regulating the chena river so that flow does not
exceed 12000 cubic feet per second in downtown Fairbanks.
Groundwater will rise to near the ground surface for several
thousand feet west of the Moose Creek dam with minor flooding
possible. River navigation through the Moose Creek dam is
unavailable during operations.
Do not drive your vehicle into areas where the water covers the
roadway. The water depth may be too great to allow your car to cross
safely. Move to higher ground.
