Areal Flood Advisory
Issued: 3:25 PM AKDT Aug. 16, 2017 – National Weather Service

The National Weather Service in Fairbanks has extended the

* flood advisory for...
rain and snowmelt in...
Tetlin Village Road...

* until 430 PM akdt Friday

* flooding continues at mile 5.3 of the Tetlin Village Road with the
Road remaining impassible to vehicles. The flooding is caused by
high water on the Tanana river that is flowing into low areas
along the Tetlin Village Road.

* Flood waters remain in the Forest along the Alaska Highway from
milepost 1305 to 1307. Water is flowing freely through the
culverts under the Road. There are no impacts to the Alaska
Highway at this time.

* Water levels on the Tanana river are falling and floodwaters are
expected to continue to recede this week. It may take many days or
longer for the water to fall low enough to make the Tetlin Road
passable.

Residents should use caution while traveling in these areas and
avoid driving into areas where the water is covering the Road.
