Special Statement
Issued: 6:37 AM AKST Jan. 21, 2017 – National Weather Service

... Locally heavy snowfall this morning producing hazardous travel
conditions across portions of southcentral Alaska this morning...

Be prepared for low visibilities, blowing snow, and snow covered
roads if traveling across the Kenai Peninsula, Anchorage, or mat-
su valleys this morning. Based on the latest radar imagery and
observations snow intensity varies over small distances, so snow
accumulation and visibility will also vary quite a bit from place
to place. There are localized areas of heavy snow with visibilities
down to one quarter of a mile or less. As of 630 am the heaviest
snow is moving across the interior Kenai Peninsula as well as the
Anchorage bowl.

The heaviest snow is expected to persist for the next few hours.
Snow will then diminish in intensity, but linger through the
afternoon hours across much of the area.

For the latest forecast for your location, including expected snow
accumulation, please visit weather.Gov/Anchorage.
