Area forecast discussion
National Weather Service Seattle Washington
811 am PDT Wednesday Aug 31 2016

Synopsis...a front will bring a little rain today. An upper
trough will maintain cooler weather with a chance of showers from
Thursday into early next week.

&&

Short term...a front will move through the area today. Rain will
be intermittent but most areas should see at least a little rain.
An upper trough just offshore will maintain cool and showery
weather Thursday and Friday. The Thursday afternoon/evening period
looks especially showery as an upper short wave rotates through.

Long term...previous discussion...a strong upper level ridge
will build over the NE Pacific early next week with the flow aloft
turning northerly over western Washington. Models are showing a
break in the action on Sunday which is consistent with the new
solutions. The flow aloft will then turn more northwest to west Monday and
Tuesday as the offshore ridge flattens. This opens the door as a
series of upper level disturbances track through the region. The
exact timing of each wave is still unclear but there is at least a
chance of showers through the period. Temperatures will remain
slightly below normal. 33

&&

Aviation...a weakening cold front will move through the area
this morning. There are a few rain bands on the radar, and the
main one will be going through the Metro area later this morning.
There are low cigs on the coast this morning. The clouds may break
up a bit late this afternoon and then set up overnight. Some more
rain is likely Thursday afternoon with the next front.

Ksea...a little rain will fall this morning as a weak front moves
through. Another disturbance will arrive Thursday afternoon.

&&

Marine...a weakening cold front is moving through western
Washington this morning. The front will not have a big wind shift,
in fact the breeze will probably become quite light later today.
Another front will arrive Thursday afternoon and evening and the
winds will come up to Small Craft Advisory strength over the
coastal waters. There will be onshore flow through the weekend.

Sew watches/warnings/advisories...

Pz...none.
