Discussion...
very hot conditions continue today, with temps already exceeding
104 across northern OK. Similar conditions are expected tomorrow
with the mid to upper ridge axis remaining overhead. A cold front,
however, will start to nudge into southwest Kansas during the late
afternoon and early evening hours. It will come close enough to
extreme northwest OK to warrant some schc pops there. These pops will
then nudge slowly southward through Monday as the effective
boundary does the same. The i40 corridor may even get in on the
action. Then, during the day Monday, a mid level low (currently
over NE ar) will move into southeast OK. Scattered showers and
thunderstorms will accompany this feature with plenty of moisture,
DPVA, and decreasing mid level temps. Barely mentionable pops
will continue through Tue as the ridge shifts westward and a mid
to upper shear axis ends up over OK. Best chances look to be
across northwest OK right NW. Temperatures will also begin to cool by
early next week considering all of the previous.

It still appears the ridge will remain west of our region through
next week, leading to northerly flow aloft and increasing rain
chances as several waves move int the Central Plains. Before the
weekend, the highest chances may accompany an upper level
shortwave Wed thru Thu. The aforementioned pattern change and
increasing precipitation chances should result in temps dropping
to near or even below average by mid to late next week.
