Discussion...

As of 10am, the light radar return from drizzle across the Metro
area appeared to be diminishing. These tiny droplets are tough for
the radar to detect especially beyond 20 or 30 miles from the
radar so there may be a bit of drizzle still falling in NE
Washington and far north Idaho. A quick look at pavement temperatures
from dot sensors show upper 20s to around 30. While our air
temperatures will remain at or below freezing today in our
valleys, there should be enough influence from daylight to push
pavement temps into the mid 30s. By early afternoon, most surfaces
should be free of the glaze that many of US in the Metro received
prior to sunrise. /Gkoch

Aviation...
18z tafs: low clouds will remain trapped under a strong inversion.
The 10am visible satellite shows a more expansive stratus deck
than yesterday at this time. A subtle shift to the south or
southwest in the boundary layer winds overnight filled the
valleys of NE Washington and north Idaho with low clouds. This low level wind
shift also lifted low stratus upslope into Spokane and produced
flurries and light freezing drizzle early this morning. Radar
trends suggest that the drizzle has decreased and pavement
temperatures should climb above freezing by early afternoon.
