A bolide (large meteor) blazing across the skies of Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee and the Carolinas captured attention throughout the Southeast.

The National Hurricane Center is watching a cluster of showers and storms located over the northwestern Caribbean Sea. This disturbance is expected to move northwest into the Bay of Campeche this weekend. If this area of low pressure can stay over water, then tropical development is possible, but chances are low. Regardless of development, heavy rain is possible across parts of Belize, Guatemala and southeast Mexico this weekend into next week.

July is still early in the hurricane season, so historically it's a quieter month, but as Hurricane Beryl showed in 2024, it can still be highly impactful.

A baby moose reunited with its mother following an ordeal in Homer, Alaska. The baby was trapped underneath a boardwalk, but crews were able to pull it out and release it back to the awaiting mother moose.

Watch as dozens of sharks swim off the coast of Dunedin, Florida. The area, known as “Shark Alley,” is known for frequent shark sightings. This video was captured by a drone on June 25.
