Wetmore, MI (Current Weather Conditions)

Caption: I knew we were getting snow and freezing rain, but when I heard the thunder, I just had to step outside and try to get a picture. These are the ice coated trees, snow, and ice pellets illuminated by lightening. It was quite an amazing experience. I hardly noticed that I was soaking wet, standing outside in my robe and slippers - in snow nearly to my knees. Then I came back inside to dry out by the woodstove.

I live in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. This is a place of extreme contrasts. The weather here is really spectacular, as is the Hiawatha National Forest. Since the first time I visited this place, I always wanted to live here. Now I do.
