This one has been here all winter, the first on I have ever seen around. This was taken thru the window about 6-8 feet from him. He scares the little birds away while he eats, but he also was sounding an alarm the other day, presumably about the sharp shinned hawk that has been dining on the small birds that come in.

wow! that is a strange sighting! i have never seen a blue jay in WY, all kinds of other jays but never a blue jay! ( just had to go read about them and noticed that their range extends east from the Black Hills in the summer to Idaho in the winter.) Blue jays are common here in south Louisiana.
