He does look an awful lot like a red-breasted nuthatch, and they do 'happen' rarely, except for his beautiful yellow breast.

Is he very nimble? (able to walk upside down underneath things, or headfirst down a tree) You are so lucky! You might report this wonderful find to your local bird society? I'd be very interested in what they think.

Nancy here is a link to Cornell Lab of Ornithology, to the red-breasted nuthatch page. See what you think! Looks like, on their map, you may have them in your location!

No Katy I don't know what kind of bird it is, but it is a funny one, we call him buzz, because that is what he will do is to buzz you till you put your hand out for him to land on, we also have a few chickadees that will eat out of your hand

*squeak!* This is GORGEOUS Nancy! What a treasure! The birds trust you, you are accepted in a special circle!

I can't for the life of me identify this tiny beauty, I can't find anything with that bright yellow breast along with the bold eye stripe in any of my books, though his markings and tiny [almost pointing up] bill look like a nuthatch. Do you know what species this is... some kind of warbler?

Belongs on the cover of a fine magazine!
