Caption: This is one of the sculptural five pieces of the emergence of a giant from the earth. The others are the head, outstretched arm, bent knee and foot. Created by J. Seward Johnson the first installation of these two was in National Harbor in Maryland. It is 70'ftx69'. Johnson said that it "has a place in universal subconscious" but leaves it up to us to discover what it personally means to us. To me, it represents the desire to emerge from our innerself and embrace life freely.

I just looked it up and it is impressive, but
the face looks tortured! Thanks for posting
this, Linda. Gave me something new to learn about!

About visionaire

It can't get much better than being outdoors and WU proves it with each photo expressing the individual vision of the experience. I apologize for not commenting more. I appreciate those who do. Right now, I am more inclined to not spend so much time on the computer and more time with my camera! Thank you to all who view my photos and to the Approvers for recognizing some of them. You all are too kind.
