Alamosa, CO (Current Weather Conditions)

Caption: I've never run into a potbelly pig on any trail I've been on! There was also a warning sign about cougars seen in the area - no wonder!

Ha! Well now you’ve made me wonder, Hotzenwaelder, whether it was the potbelly or the pig that they felt was most attractive to cougars.

I’ve since found this, an excerpt from a 2012 newspaper article, on the internet:

ALAMOSA — Two local people walking their dogs had a close encounter with a mountain lion about 11 p.m. Monday, June 25 on the Rio Grande levee in the vicinity of Adams State College.

It appears that everyone is adhering to the rules if you did not see even one potbellied pig. I hope they do not prohibit potbellied men, as I would like to walk the path someday.

You gave me a good laugh, Gil! And Betsy, I'm embarrassed to say that I somehow missed the warning sign about the cougars until I was done with my hike. I was only visiting Alamosa, and needed to give my dog a chance to exercise while I worked off my breakfast, so I won't be back to tempt fate again. Personally, I think trolling for cougars with dogs and potbelly pigs is kind of cruel....!

I'm laughing, Jeannie! I wonder if that is "tongue in cheek humor" or for real? I like your last comment about the cougars, too. However, does it make you a bit uneasy to hike this trail?

Great info Jeannie.
Apparently Cougars are exempt from the Leash law then.
