Brownfield, ME (Current Weather Conditions)

Caption: and a hen..I took a different road running errands and came across a small Mennonite farm by the country roadside..a small, A-frame structure, with a wire fence around, kept this pig, and a few others warm and safe..free range hens wandered about as well..the light snow falling added to the amazing rustic Winter scene..I really felt like I had stepped back in time..

You've put a smile on my face! I didn't like pigs until I raised a runt. She followed me around like a dog... I don't think she knew that she was a pig!

Terrific image from the ironically named "Brownfield" we used to call these little stock houses "Arks", some were on sledges so they could be moved around the paddock.

thanks again everyone..as far as the pigs keeping warm, that's not problem..their unique shelter is heated by a propane heater..and there's several piggies in there..so I'm sure they all "snuggle" together when they're in for the night..I will revisit to see, now that I know where they are.. :)

About suzi46

suzi46

Living in the mountains of Western Maine on a 15 acre 'gentleman's farm', in a hand hewn log home, has been a wonderful experience these past 6 1/2 years. But it was time to downsize and make a major lifestyle change..so that's what we did!! Going from the Mt Washington Valley region of Maine/NH all the way down to the "Horse Capital of the World"..Marion County in Central Florida! New photo ops in a totally new and intriguing area of this very large and varied state..let the fun begin!
