during this morning's wind and rain storm..dense fog began dissipating with the arrival of 45-60MPH winds..heavy rain and 60F degree temps started the day..huge flocks of turkeys have decided they like our backyard and the spring near the stonewall..losing the deep snow and ice overnight has made the water available once again..so many of them spent quite awhile just walking in and out of the water and eating the vegetation..they look different soaking wet..much darker in color and "skinny" with their feathers matted down from the rain..

Mmmm, those turkeys seem to be strutting their stuff - hope it's not a too early season for the little chicks that might result!

About suzi46
suzi46 Living in the mountains of Western Maine on a 15 acre 'gentleman's farm', in a hand hewn log home, has been a wonderful experience these past 6 1/2 years. The photo ops are virtually unlimited what with the surrounding working farms, dozens of lakes, ponds, and brooks, and thousands of acres of forest. Not to mention our own pond and brooks as well as extensive flower gardens, fruit bushes, vines, and trees. The views of Mt Washington and the Presidentials of NH only add to the drama! Not a bad place to be retired..and I am so glad I can share all of this with the wonderful folks on this great site..it has been a wonderful journey and learning experience thus far..and it's only getting better!
