About rpm88
rpm88 I've been a hobbyist photographer since high school. Bought a Canon AE1 while in college, and for decades shot nothing but Kodachrome (25 until extinct, then 64). I wanted realism. In the 90's I gradually transitioned to Kodacolor. I still consider myself a holdout from the film days. But lately I'm shooting about 95% digital with my own camera, after having borrowed an older digital from a friend for about a year to kind of learn the ropes. Now I consider myself a reluctant convert. I still use the AE1 for special occasions, though...like for portrait work, or when I REALLY want to capture motion. (Digital has way too many limitations for that.) The 1/60 shutter speed is my favorite. I like to reveal motion with varying amounts of blur. To me, and maybe I'm a total snob, but frozen motion is almost always boring... It's a pleasure to be able to view all the great photographs here, and interact with some wunderful people.
