This is a great shot. I think I actually like
it better than the AC capture.

Very nice series overall!

A couple years ago and a couple miles from "downtown" Benzette, I was driving around an "S" curve in the road when a 14 point bull, Majestic, and his cows and calves came out of the woods about 40 yards from where I stopped the Jeep. The bull walked down the yard on our side of the street to the house that was opposite my friends brand new white Jeep I was driving while he took pictures. The bull stopped behind the sign in the front yard of the house that read "No Trespassing", he turned to see the cows and calves had crossed the road at the area where they had come out of the woods while he distracted us as we took pictures of him heading our way.
When he saw the family crossed safely, he walked right over to the passenger side of the Jeep, turned a sharp right then crossed right in front of our car. Needless to say I expected him to butt the car as he approached it but he spared us and the car to get back to his family.

You could tell this bull had done this distraction maneuver many times and the cows knew how to respond.

When the bull crossed in front of us, he was so close I expected to find elk hair in the grill of the Jeep. The last picture we took of him in front of the car showed him wearing a very smug look and rightly so.

We continued down the road, did a turn around and came back to the area to see the bull and family relaxing on the edge of a neighbors yard. An event I will never forget.

There is no charge to visit the Visitors Center but do pay the fee and take the children to see the video. Informative and clever. It is a family fun center. You can practice your "bugling" and hear it played back to you. Hilarious.

This was taken in Elk county Benezette PA. There are several herds there. In Sept. and Oct. when the rut starts you can see these elk in and around the town I have the seen them at the municipal building which was a school at one time. They are even in peoples yards in town. They have built an Elk center with a viewing area near there (thats where I took these pics). These are wild and you must be aware they have been known to attack cars and I think there may be some u-tube video's showing a bull ramming cars as they pass by.

Thanks for the comments

Great shot! Was this in the wild or on a
preserve? We do not have elk in my area.
Perhaps in the mountains of VA and NC
as there is a place in NC called Banner Elk.
