Our most common of the winter finches, just a bit smaller than a chickadee. Busy flocks of many energetic birds, males often have a rosy 'wash' on their breasts, females do not. Sometimes the Arctic Hoary Redpolls travel with their 'common' cousins, I hope to capture one of those soon.

About katy99780
katy99780 I've lived in Alaska since 1969. I really love this wild land. The extremes of the far north shape and affect every living thing. Extremes of weather, elevation, daylight hours, isolation, flora and fauna, nothing in Nature is insignificant.I have a Davis Vantage Pro weather station, uploading to Wunderground, (Turks on the Tundra) the National Weather Service, the Citizen Weather Observation Program and MADIS (Meteorological Assimilation Data Ingest System).
