Approaching a couple of caribou on the road, they seemed agitated and wouldn't run off into the woods as they usually do. Might have been a bear in the area. Just managed to catch this one in silhouette against the Cathedral Mountains. Not if focus very well though, the pickup was still bumping down the road.

Could have been wolves too,Katy. We've had the same experience with Caribou in your neck of the woods. Wolves drove the Caribou onto the road. Caribou stayed on the road.....wolves wouldn't come out into the open.
Love seeing the Caribou. They are beautiful and unique !

Great & interesting shot Katy. Like the way it turned out, a dark animal against a lite background. better than the other way around.

About katy99780
katy99780 I've lived in Alaska since 1969. I really love this wild land. The extremes of the far north shape and affect every living thing. Extremes of weather, elevation, daylight hours, isolation, flora and fauna, nothing in Nature is insignificant.I have a Davis Vantage Pro weather station, uploading to Wunderground, (Turks on the Tundra) the National Weather Service, the Citizen Weather Observation Program and MADIS (Meteorological Assimilation Data Ingest System).
