West Point, NE (Current Weather Conditions)

Caption: A 700 mile round trip on a marginal chase day. I'm so glad we left in time to see such a structured supercell. A lot of very close cloud to ground lightning as well and damaging winds. Overall my favorite chase this year.

Great title & great effort to capture that fabulous structured supercell! By the way, was the Sheriff invited on the Mothership?

Thank you all for taking the time to comment. I do appreciate all the kind words. Mindi, yes. This was the same storm. When a supercell like this becomes outflow dominant, it creates a shelf cloud and usually some pretty high winds. We were driving in some of the worst rain I've ever been in! Insane! Most people pulled over on the sides of the highway. I took my chances driving slow. Didn't want to be a sitting duck for a collision!

WOW SHANE!!! THIS *MUST*! Be the cell that rolled over S/W/Western Iowa Friday night? [If you have a minute to check out my pix from then..]It came from the N/W,even though the cloud/system was building up from the S/W..also see Scotti's Omaha shelf cloud pix from the same nite...cool to keep track of this like you do.I like to keep tabs on these as well,,but don't ride all over like you do,,lol! EXCELLENT almost once-in-a-lifetime catch!!! LUCKY YOU!! Maybe I should give you a 'call' when things look interesting up here? lol!

the sheriff'd vehicle there, too. It just adds
a little something extra to an already great shot!
