that's not a reflection in the window, it's the roof! fortunately no one was working when this happened. Burney (23 miles west of us)has had even more snow than we've had - 4+ feet! and, it's a wet heavy snow - temps hovering right at freezing - down a little, up a little.

thanks for the comments and for the VIP! if my memory serves me right it collapsed 2 days ago - Sunday. we've had heavy snow falling for days now - because of the temps around 32 the depth has been kept at around 3-4 feet.

Great Weather report photo Susan, but really sorry to hear of this disaster. Good that nobody was inside at the time it happened. Could have been much worse. Thanks for your report.
Congratulations on the VIP!

Obviously the building designers never expected to have to deal with these weather conditions. Thanks for sharing this news, Susan, and congrats on the VIP!

Oh how awful! So glad no one was hurt! This is a shocker alright, great weather reporting Susan!

If this building couldn't hold the snow load, no doubt others are at risk as well... sure hope they get them shoveled before any others go down!

Wow Susan you really got it. Our 17 inches settled and there is only about five inches or so on the ground so I hope yours quits soon. That weight can really do damage. Keep safe. Arlene

From what i can find out on the net ONE cubic foot of wet snow would weigh somewhere in the region of 12 to 15 lbs. Great shot on the destructive power of wet snow.

If this wasn't so costly, several jokes could be made of the 'Hunting and Fishing' signage.
They will certainly be hunting and fishing around the place for valuables that need recovering.
It's truly sad that by this year, we haven't learned the lessons of large exspansive Flat Roofs on stores. Especially in the Snowier Regions. The Very Large, Ever Growing Wal-Mart Stores come to mind...
what an "accident" waiting to happen!
And most likely, it won't be empty when it does happen.

Ben Franklin would have been furious that there wasn't more applied science in the building of that roof. He would have told the contractor to go fly a kite. Fire the inspector!

Seriously, as everyone commented, I'm glad that no one was in there.

Great capture and great lesson.
