Auckland, New Zealand

Caption: The pohutukawa trees are putting on a real show this year (a sign of a long, hot summer). Driving home today - a very grey, hot, humid day, we saw this beautiful carpet on the footpath. (Sidewalk.)

Good to know you are getting their beauty as well Bronwyn.

(I was quite amazed to see the two ACs in the one series. The Approvers must have been REALLY impressed. I remember when I was approving some time ago we were told 2 in the same series was a no no, unless the subjects were completely different.)

Ohh... Laying out the red carpet... Expecting someone special?
I have been tempted to do similar shots with all the red about. They are in magnificent bloom all around this year.
(BTW... thanks for your comment on my bridge shot, I was stoked to receive TWO ACs from the same series. A GREAT Christmas prezzie)

I've just checked - the trees were not in bloom when Google was there.

Thanks Dave. It looks good, doesn't it! I think that shot is taken on the Coromandel coast where the road goes along the shoreline for about 30km or so and there are pohutukawa trees just about all the way. I have not checked, but you would probably get a good idea of the scenery if you checked on Google Street View.

Hope you are having a great Christmas break.
