Thanks for all the comments, they are much appreciated. It is the island on the photo on Wikipedia Moussifer but taken from the opposite side. Today was the first time I have seen the tarn frozen to the extent that it was safe to walk on and I took full advantage of it. It was also the first time I have ever been there and not seen another person. It was incredibly peaceful and silent

Really lovely. I had to look up the place when I saw the name. Thought it must be in the UK. There is a short write-up for it on Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tarn_Hows) If you click on the first picture to make it larger, the little "island" in the center foreground looks like these trees. Is that the location, Wilson?

Nice composition - with the trees rising so high above the snowy hill, and then tapering off into the fog.
