Caption: I parked at the parking lot at Mad River Beach at 8am. Two hours later it was flooded and I drove out in 2 ft of water with swimming voles and gophers. The river kept rising and flooding private land.

Never been in a flood before. I didn't know it could rise so high. I'm from a much drier place. Apparently 20 inches of rain fell up river in the mountains. We only got 5 or 6 at the coast. There were still some cars in the parking lot when I left. There are a few houses right by the road that probably got a bit flooded after I left.

My friend had to tow the Subaru through the water because the engine took water, but my 4Runner barely made it.
