Magpie With Snowy Beak

Uploaded by: ColoradoKat

Littleton, CO (Current Weather Conditions)

Caption: Except for a couple of hikers, dog walkers, and a few ice fishermen, the only life I saw in Chatfield State Park was geese and magpies. I remember when I moved to Colorado from Illinois and I saw my first magpie. That big black & white bird with the l-o-n-g tail sure made a big impression on me. Never saw anything like it! Now they are an every day event, but I still like them!

Very nice. The striking color contrast reminds me of the red-headed woodpecker.
