Lakewood, CO (Current Weather Conditions)

Caption: Denver can have temperature inversions and bad air pollution, especially in Winter, but the day after our 6 days and nights of Artic air, the air was still clear and I could see the statue of Jesus at The Mother Cabrini Shrine, which is ten miles from Forsberg Iron Spring Park by car. You can see it on the hilltop, in the center, just top the left of the row of evergreen trees. Pardon the xtreme cropping, but I just wanted to highlight the pretty foothills and the statue.

Fascinating story. Although I have read her biography, I do not recall reading about her stay in CO. It makes sense though since she came to help the Italian laborers who were treated pretty badly while working in CO. This I know from another book that I have read....
So glad that Italy sent such an inspiring lady/nun/future Saint to our wonderful country.

I love the variety of blues in this shot.
I am surprised that there is a Mother Cabrini shrine in CO. I wonder what her tie to CO is?! Isn't Mother Cabrini the first American Saint? I read her biography a long time ago and my memory isn't what it used to be. This is my latest litany!
