Winter's Work

Hotchkiss, CO (Current Weather Conditions)

Caption: Just because nothing is currently growing doesn't mean the work stops. The fruit trees have to be pruned so the root system can support the size of the tree and grow good sized fruit, and also to make the fruit more easily reached for harvest. Bud is just using a regular lopper, no power tools and no hired help. He likes working with the trees. The tree to the left of him is one he just finished, and that is what this one will look like in a few minutes. He is a hard-working man!

Thank you, Heidrun! It is very hard work, but we get nicer
apricots out of the deal, so he thinks it's worth it!
