Between DeBeque and Rifle, along the North side of the highway are a wonderful series of mountains, full of rocks and ridges and colors. The light snow highlighted the details that make up the whole of the mountain and today, I could have stopped a thousand times, as each mountain has it's own patterns. It was like driving through a huge art gallery. I was trying to back to Denver before it got dark and before rush hour, but finally I had to stop once. I think I was close to Parachute.

You should take a bit of geology. I think you'd like it!

You also love the patterns and forms. Geology would help you understand how they are made and why they occur.

Yes, I do! I have been told to read "Centennial"
by James A. Michener, as it tells about how
Colorado was formed, geologically. I may have
to do that. I still have my Dad's copy. He loved
that part of the book.

Did you see the miniseries.? Centennial is a good book too. I think the first section was written from a dinosaurs point of view. I don't quite remember but it was very unusual.

No, I missed the mini-series. I prefer to read
a book before I see any film version of it, and I
hadn't read it yet. Still haven't, but I believe
I will make it my next read!
