The opposite side of the rock “pier”, where the sun cast some deep and striking shadows…

The power of finding beauty in the humblest things makes home happy and life lovely.

Thanks!

I was going for the 5 light/dark layers, though, and the whole Ireland thing didn't even dawn on me, but you're right! :D

Thanks!

I figured it may not be everyone's proverbial "cup of tea", but I liked the "abstractness" of it -- the whole series, in fact.

I really like Mary's comparison to Ireland. It really does like you were looking across beautiful green hills!

Yep, thanks!

They look almost "furry" from a distance, and even up-close they have that soft texture to them.

Great color/contrast with light/dark! I esp like the blended or soft green edge in the foreground in comparison to the hard green edge behind it.

Thanks!

And yep, sometimes lighting just presents itself in a way to make a shot really special.

For such a "simple" subject as this, I took *so many* different shots, just jiggling the camera a little to the left/right, a little higher/lower, pulling back a bit on the zoom and then zooming in a little more, and I just liked this shot, the roughly 5 bands of light/dark, the best, pretty evenly centered.

I even had to back away and just look at the assortment of thumbnails in the whole directory at once, to see where my eye was drawn to. and *this* was the shot. :D

I do that too Gene.
When I use to take painting lessons (18 yrs old) my teacher had us stand at our easels & reminded us to back off or even use long handled brushes to make us stand farther away. It really helps! So you have found your way to digitally back off. Love it.

Hmm, interesting!

And yeah, it's rough to "compare" different shots fullsize, especially if there's a delay between flipping back'n'forth between 2 shots. So I've resorted to "backing off" as above, narrowing down my choices, then going with whichever looks best up-close.

I guess first I check out the forest, *then* the individual trees... :D

Love it!!! You have a unique way of seeing beauty in the things around you. Thanks for sharing your vision with us. (And not to mention your technical excellence to capture the vision). I look forward to more beauty.
