The blossoms of Autumn Olive (Eleagnus) appear in late fall and are not showy, but have a heavenly perfume. In this climate the shrubs don't have time to mature the red berries that are evident in warmer places; I have seen them in Texas in late winter.

Wish we could have, Dianne! I first found these shrubs when I was a kid; I was intrigued not only by the smell but by the daintiness of the blooms and the fact that both they and the leaf undersides seemed to be sprinkled with gold dust. Thanks for your comment!
